Christine Sutcliffe Alvey has been named Husky Corporation's Corporate Controller.Husky Corporation is pleased to announce that Christine Sutcliffe Alvey is beginning her new role as Corporate Controller.  In this position, Christine will continue to use her creative leadership and analytical prowess to guide Husky’s $50+ million budget, focusing on increased efficiency, profitability, and longevity.

After graduating from Lindenwood University and obtaining her CPA, Christine spent a decade honing her skills, first in public accounting and then in corporate finance and FP&A at Barry-Wehmiller.  In 2021, Christine came back to the family business as Husky Corporation’s first financial analyst.  In doing so, she joined her siblings as part of the third generation of the family to work at Husky.

Since then, Christine has made a strong impact on Husky’s finance and sales departments, implementing a Business Intelligence tool for financial analysis and reporting, and partnering in key contract negotiation strategy.  Her significant involvement in financial decision-making has generated efficiency gains, improved profitability, and heightened transparency across all of Husky’s operations, from its fuel-dispensing product lines to its related BJE oil and lube, Hewitt aviation fueling, and SUR&R product lines.  She was also instrumental in the due diligence and acquisition of K100, which is a family of fuel additives, and Husky’s newest product line.

Husky nozzles offer improved accessibility, control, and fueling precision as standard features

Fueling equipment should work for everyone—consistently, safely and comfortably. That’s the thinking behind the latest update to Husky Corporation’s industry-leading fuel nozzles, which will now include the innovative EZ Lever as a standard feature.

For decades, Husky nozzles have been known for quality, durability and performance at fuel stations around the world. The company’s latest enhancement reflects its continued investment in engineering solutions that improve the user experience without adding cost or complexity.

“Fueling products must deliver performance and reliability every time,” said G.G. Sutcliffe, president of Husky Corporation. “Our nozzle design reflects decades of engineering and customer input. We’re proud that every nozzle we ship continues that legacy.”

EZ Lever Enhances Performance, Reduces Spill Risk, and Supports ADA Compliance

The newly standard EZ Lever is a two-piece design that dramatically reduces the amount of force required to operate the nozzle—less than five pounds compared to the typical 10 to 15 pounds. This improvement meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and provides smoother control during fueling. See how it works in this brief video.

“EZ Lever adds value to every fueling transaction, especially for customers who need greater control or have physical limitations,” said Brad Baker, executive vice president of Husky Corporation. “We’ve worked with our longtime U.S. suppliers to offer this improvement with no additional cost.”

In addition to making fueling more accessible, EZ Lever improves precision—especially when topping off a vehicle or filling fuel containers. The enhanced control helps reduce splash back and minimize spills, improving safety for customers and station operators alike.

The nozzle’s performance remains consistent with Husky’s established flow rates and certifications, including those required by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Distributors and customers will continue using the same part numbers, ensuring a seamless transition as EZ Lever-equipped nozzles begin shipping in late 2024.

Katie Sutcliffe Becker, In House Counsel at Husky Corporation, has been recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal with a 2024 Corporate Counsel Award. Katie is one of 10 recipients, who were selected with the help of a group of Association of Corporate Counsel members along with the Business Journal’s editorial team. This recognition highlights her contributions to the field of corporate law and her role within the organization. This acknowledgment underscores her significant contributions and steadfast commitment to navigating the complexities of Husky’s industries.

Katie’s journey into corporate law began with a background deeply rooted in the family business, where she gained firsthand experience about various legal matters. A graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law, she spent 15 years refining her skills in the bankruptcy group of an AmLaw 200 firm in Washington, DC before joining Husky Corporation in 2015. She represents the third generation of her family to being involved actively in the  company, which was started by her grandparents (Eugene and Hazel Sutcliffe) in 1947 and is currently led by her father G.G Sutcliffe.

A Journey of Dedication and Innovation

Katherine Sutcliffe is general counsel at Husky Corp. DILIP VISHWANAT | SLBJ

As the sole member of Husky’s legal department, Katie navigates a wide array of legal matters, from individual disputes to policy crafting, ensuring the company’s legal framework remains robust and adaptable. Katie’s role has evolved beyond conventional legal boundaries, encompassing a diverse range of responsibilities within the organization. Her involvement in strategic endeavors, such as the acquisition of Husky’s latest product line, K100, underscores her proactive approach to decision-making.

Despite her pivotal role, Katie remains humble, acknowledging the collaborative efforts of her colleagues and executives within the organization. She attributes success to collective teamwork rather than individual accomplishments.

While Katie was in private practice in Washington D.C., she represented pro bono clients and was an active member of the Smithsonian Institution and National Zoo. She has also enjoyed supporting other organizations such as the National Cathedral and the Kennedy Center. Currently, Katie volunteers as a docent at the San Antonio Museum of Art, supports the St. Louis Art Museum, the Ballet Conservatory of South Texas, and is a Marlin Perkins member of the St. Louis Zoo.

Husky Corporation extends its sincere congratulations to Katie Sutcliffe on this well-deserved recognition. Her dedication, adaptability, and collaborative spirit embody the values that define the organization’s ethos.
